Evidence Based Chiropractic Care

Restoring motion. Reducing inflammation. Helping you move with confidence again.

How Chiropractic Care Works

Chiropractic care improves how joints, muscles, and the nervous system work together. When a joint becomes stiff or restricted, the surrounding tissues can develop irritation, swelling, and changes in muscle tone. Chiropractors have traditionally described this as altered joint alignment; today we understand it through the lens of joint mechanics and neurogenic inflammation. Restoring motion helps normalize sensory input, reduce protective muscle guarding, and improve how the area manages everyday load. These changes make movement feel easier and more comfortable in the activities that matter to you.

Our Approach to Chiropractic Care

Our approach is functional and evidence based. We use joint mobilization and manipulation to improve motion, reduce inflammation, and support better movement patterns. Treatment is integrated with soft tissue work and exercise to reinforce the changes made during the session. Care is always tailored to your comfort level, whether you prefer traditional adjustments or low force instrument based techniques. Your care plan is based on your goals, your condition, and how you want to use chiropractic in your life. Some people come for short term relief, others for functional improvement, and some choose periodic wellness visits. The frequency is always personal and never predetermined.

FAQ

Your treatment plan is based on your goals, your condition, and how you want to use chiropractic in your life. Most people feel improvement within a few visits, while more complex issues may benefit from a longer phase of care. Once you reach your goals, you decide whether to maintain your progress with periodic visits or simply return whenever you feel you need support. There is never a preset schedule or pressure for ongoing treatments.

Neck adjustments are not required, and you have full control over the techniques used during your care. Many patients prefer gentle or instrument based methods that do not produce an audible “crack”, and those options are available at any time. Cervical adjustments are considered safe for most people, and they are performed with careful assessment and clinical judgment. You may decline any technique that does not feel right for you.

Most adjustments are not painful, and they are performed within your natural range of motion. Some areas may feel uncomfortable if the tissues are already sensitive to touch. Occasionally patients feel mild soreness afterward, similar to the feeling after exercise, but it usually resolves quickly. Your reaction to treatment guides every part of the care, and techniques are modified immediately if anything feels uncomfortable. You may always tell us to stop or change the approach at any time.

Most patients receive treatment on the first visit after the history and examination are completed and an appropriate plan is determined. X‑rays are ordered only when they are clinically necessary, such as when trauma, red flags, or unclear findings are present. Many conditions can be treated safely without imaging, and your care is based on your presentation rather than a preset sequence of visits.

We treat children when they are old enough to walk and follow simple directions. Care is provided with low force techniques that match their size and tolerance. Infants are evaluated on a case by case basis, and only gentle static pressures are used when treatment is appropriate.

Many patients seek a change in care after feeling rushed, pressured, or treated like a number in a previous clinic. We do not use an assembly line approach, and we do not treat without a history and examination. We adjust your care based on your presentation at each visit, and we refer to medical care when chiropractic treatment is not appropriate. So you never experience:
• the same treatment every visit regardless of your complaint
• high pressure sales or preset schedules
• required educational classes or events
• forceful methods when a low force option is more appropriate

Periodic wellness, maintenance, or supportive care is recommended but never required after you reach your functional goals. After your active care, we gradually space visits to see how far you can go, and your long term frequency depends entirely on how your body responds rather than a preset schedule. Some patients benefit from weekly supportive care, while others thrive with a visit every few months. If you prefer not to take a proactive approach, we are always happy to treat you as needed or during flare ups. Care is tailored to your goals, your condition, and how you want to use chiropractic in your life.

Techniques Offered

We use several evidence‑based chiropractic techniques and select the method that best matches your condition and comfort level.

Activator Methods

Activator low‑force adjustments are safe, gentle, and precise. A spring‑loaded instrument delivers a quick, controlled impulse to the joint to restore motion and improve alignment. The speed of the instrument allows treatment even in areas with significant muscle spasm. There is no cracking, popping, or manual pressure. Activator can be used on the spine as well as any other joint in the body.
We are the only clinic with Advanced Activator certification from the Illinois border through the Brownsburg area.

Cox Flexion Distraction

Cox Flexion‑Distraction was developed in Fort Wayne, Indiana and is widely used for disc herniations and spinal stenosis. The specialized table gently moves the spine through a controlled, rhythmic stretching motion that you simply can’t achieve with normal stretching. This motion reduces pressure inside the disc and can help draw a bulging disc away from irritated nerves.

Diversified Technique

Diversified Technique is the traditional hands‑on chiropractic adjustment used to improve joint motion and alignment. It involves a quick, precise manual thrust delivered with the chiropractor’s hands. This type of adjustment often produces a brief clicking or popping sound, which comes from a change in pressure inside the joint capsule as the surrounding ligaments are stretched.

Thompson Drop Technique

Thompson Drop Technique uses a spring‑tensioned table that absorbs part of the adjustment force. During the thrust, the section of the table under the patient drops about a half inch, allowing the adjustment to occur with less resistance from the body. The drop mechanism helps deliver a precise, effective adjustment without the twisting or rotation used in some other techniques.

We will discuss which technique is appropriate for your condition and explain what to expect before beginning treatment.
