Laser Therapy for Pain Relief and Healing

Safe, non‑invasive treatment to reduce inflammation and accelerate healing

High intensity laser therapy is offered in conjunction with chiropractic treatment or as a stand alone therapy.

Class 4 Laser Therapy is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive, drug-free therapy that does more than just treat the symptoms of chronic pain. Laser therapy actually promotes healing! It delivers a soothing, healing light energy to the root of the pain

Laser therapy is found to have a cumulative effect. Many people feel a significant reduction in pain after only one treatment. It typically takes between 6-12 treatments for full functional restoration. The age of the condition and the general health of the patient have a substantial impact on the number of necessary treatments required.

Laser therapy is applied to a patient's knee.

Is Class 4 Laser the same as Cold Laser?

High intensity laser therapy (HILT) is much different than a cold laser also known as a low level laser (LLL). We used a cold laser at this clinic for many years with limited success. Both HILT and LLL are phototherapy, but our HILT delivers 12,000 Joules of energy 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Our old LLL device delivers 12,000 Joules of energy in 33 hours and 20 minutes. The HILT therapy also penetrates 3-4 inches rather than the LLL penetration of about ½ inch.

Testimonials

On February 19th I had my second full knee replacement surgery. In addition to the regular physical therapy recommended by the physician, Dr. Starns suggested laser therapy to help reduce the bruising and swelling. We started this treatment within a week of the surgery. After the 1st treatment, I noticed an immediate reduction in the amount of bruising and swelling in the knee. This helped reduce the pain and improve my mobility. Further laser treatment continued to reduce the bruising and keep the swelling at a minimum. A little over 2 weeks out from surgery, I have been able to eliminate the use of pain medicines and have been released to go back to work. My therapist reports that I am at least a week ahead of normal schedule for recovery. This replacement surgery has been easier for me than the 1st surgery. I am convince that the laser treatment has helped improve my recovery time and reduce the pain involved with the surgery.

I was having problems walking because I could not feel the floor. I also could not feel the gas pedal while driving. Laser therapy has changed that. I noticed the change after the second week of treatment, and it continued to slowly improve with ongoing laser treatment. I am pleased with the results from the treatment with Dr. Starns.

Before & After

HILT uses a process called photobiomodulation to accelerate how fast cells in the body heal. It floods photon packets of light energy deep into the injured tissues. As the body absorbs photons of light energy, the mitochondria in the cells produce more ATP which is what the body uses for energy. Nitric oxide is also released causing capillary bed dilation. The enhanced micro-circulation supplies the tissue with critical oxygen and nutrients.
